joie de vivre

I'll set the mood with this song that popped into my mind.

What are you afraid of? What is stopping you from living the life that you dreamed of as a child? Is it the expectations of others? Or is it all the fears that you've encountered in your life thus far that have been internalised so much that it has shackled you to your crutches? What is holding you back from being comfortable in your own skin?

When was the last time that your awkward laughter echoed in the silence of shallow breathers all around you? Was there an event in the recent past where you followed your gut instincts and just let curiosity take ownership of your actions instead of relying on calculated assumptions? Did you ever do anything with reckless abandon and just seize the day; not letting convention decide for you?

When was the last time that you weren't afraid to show your emotions as they are? When did you just express your rage and throw caution to the wind or cry like a lost child wandering in search of a custodian?

A lifetime of suppressed emotions and sweeping stuff under the rug will eventually lead to a mechanical lifestyle. Pretty much going through the motions and as you navigate life in survival mode, you lose your genuineness and essentially don't care for another person's sentiments. You lose the throb of life; the immortal essence of life itself. What kind of a life is that? One without feeling emotions wash over you, bathe you in its warmth or even shatter you until you're sure you're dead. What is the fun in living a life dictated by the greed of another quintessentially narcissistic power-hungry tyrant?

People say," Control your emotional outbursts" so that it's not destructive to others around you. Do these so-called people bother to deal with the aftermath of the subsequent implosion and its ramifications, though?

I say, go for it. Whatever your heart says, chase it like your life depended on it because it fundamentally does. For tomorrow is promised to none. All you have is right now.  So, tell that person how much you care about them. Buy those expensive shoes. Use the beautiful crockery that's been sitting on the shelves for an eternity that you've been saving up to be used only for extravagant festivities. Leave today with no regrets for a life lived fully. Do not be afraid to show your true face in society; take off the masks and live for once.

I'd like to end with this beautiful adage- Live this day like it's the first and the last day of your life. Do not let your yesteryears cloud the pristine present. Love wholeheartedly with full disclosure of all your vulnerabilities and weaknesses even though you've been deceived innumerable times. I know it is not easy. Nevertheless, once all the elephants in the room have been addressed you will find a sense of clarity like never before which will propel you forward in the direction you are meant to go and you'll finally attain liberation. Do not wait for the well to dry up to know the worth of water; let the water know that it is appreciated and protected.
