Breaking out of autopilot
This is a topic for discussion at length. As a person with first-hand experience of the subject, I have multitudes of info on the matter. So, where do I start? Let's begin with the perfect song that embodies this memorandum.
OK, let's see. The core of the matter is that chronically living on auto-pilot renders you desensitized. You want to feel all the emotions of life but however much you try, you just feel unable to and you are deprived of all sensation. This leads to a vicious cycle of misery, diffidence and self-pity that starts to consume us that is wholly self-induced.
Autopilot mode is just a survival tactic so that you can get by in life but you are essentially dead inside. I wonder how people can get so comfortably numb to all the trauma and the baggage they've been hanging on to for so long that it's become a part of themselves. They fail to segregate it as something that has hooked onto them and is a separate entity by itself. The problem begins when you start identifying with it.
I needed a literal break to come out of it. Just going through the motions just because everyone is doing it. Blindly following the norm without asking questions as to why traditions exist or the reason behind why things have been done a certain way since time immemorial.
Sometimes you need a mentor or someone to open up your eyes to the abuse you've been conditioned to be comfortable with. You've been playing a role in your own life dictated by society, not letting out your wild and authentic self, keeping it caged thinking that it's a monster but no, it isn't. It's only when you get up close and personal with it do you realize that you had immense potential inside you that was steaming inside all this time, imprisoned for as long as you were alive.
It's only when you spend time with the demons inside you that you know their essence. For that to happen, you shouldn't stop midway. It is an arduous task. Nonetheless, as you begin disentangling the knots in your head and the maze becomes more lucid you will be able to fully comprehend the root cause that's been dogging you all this while. When you go all the way, you'll know all the cards that you've been dealt with with the utmost precision. It's only then that you can play the game. And the monster suddenly morphs into a beautiful orchestra of creation that was lying dormant in you. After all this time hibernating, it is ready to show the world what it really is.
Challenge illogical and irrational ideals. Speak your mind. Wear your heart on your sleeve. Embrace who you are with sheer acceptance. Ascend to the throne that is rightfully yours. Break free of the chains shackling you and feel the power surge through you!

ReplyDeleteThis has given me food for thought. It is true sometimes it is useful to go into autopilot but there is a danger that you are not open to the what is happening inside and around you and this blog is useful to remind us of that and keep the autopilot in check.
